I started this blog in the beginning of 2014 purely because of my passion for cooking and taking pictures. At that time, I was newly vegan and discovering the wonders of plant based eating. I’m not talking salads; I’m talking about caramel made from dates and using avocado in a frosting recipe! Thanks in large part to social media, these ideas don’t sound so crazy anymore, but just a few years ago they were totally unique. Ideas like those are what totally intrigued me into finding more creative ways to use food. And as time has gone by, I find the more recipes I create, the broader my imagination grows. In the words of Maya Angelou, You can’t use up creativity. The more you use, the more you have.
Since being pregnant and becoming a mother, I don’t adhere to any label anymore; however, I feel at my best when eating and cooking a plant based diet, and so I continue to only share these kinds of recipes. That is, ingredients that are free of dairy, eggs, and meat. Throughout the years, my recipes have transitioned into gluten free as well. Mainly because most of my recipes were naturally free of gluten, and also because many readers are interested in this type of diet.
The people I mention most often in my posts would be Justin, Oliver, and Roscoe. Justin is my husband; we’ve been married since December of 2014. Oliver is our little boy who was born in May of 2016 (read about his birth story in a blog post under the motherhood tab), and Roscoe is our beloved 10 year old Rottweiler Labrador mix. They are my food testers, my daily entertainment, and the loves of my life.
Since updating this blog, I have refocused my posts to be entirely about food, but I’ve decided to leave my motherhood tab because I’ve been told by some that it was helpful. Since that was my sole intention when including a motherhood tab, I will leave it there for the chance the it may be of help to even just one person.
